Well, that was an egregious insult.
When folks march against the state to secure their human rights, who is the patriot?
Are the folks with fire hoses and pepper spray the heroes of the march?
Is compliant loyalty to the governing family the measure of sincerity in an investor in a public company?
When the status quo results in harms, is insulting those who are harmed and who recognise they are harmed and object to it a sign of insight into their complaint? Or does it reflect something about the security of the insult's author?
My own sense is that there's an imbalance of knowledge in play. Very few folks can count beans. Those who cannot resent those who can. The beans suggest a story that is worrying. Those who see it are worried by it. Those who don't see it hope those who do are are liars. As if when one sees a fire truck with lights blazing one presumes the firefighters are doing it for show.
