...ruger makes a .22 / .22 mag revolver. It has two cylinders one for each caliber bullet. The barrel is the same for either bullet.
...more folks are killed with .22's than any other bullet but that is cause more people are shot with them. Same as the reason that more deer are killed with .30-.30. It's not that the bullet is all that effective, it's just the most common.
...it takes a long time and a lot of practice and training to become competent with a handgun. If you aren't prepared to spend forty hours getting competent then stay away from em.
...another thing, if ya have to use one, don't expect folks to react like they do in the movies. The impact of the bullet will not knock em across the room and thru a steel door. If it would, it would also break the shooters arm and toss him about in a similar fashion. (...not an altogether bad idea imho)
...the first thing ya will think if ya shoot something is that ya musta missed somehow cause unless you hit a major nerve center (brain spinal column ect) there will be no reaction at all. Even a shot directly thru the heart can leave em standing for 10 or 15 seconds. If they have a weapon, there will be time for them to use it.

Rule number one: Never shoot anyone under any circumstances unless you have absolutely no other choice to save your own life or the life of an innocent third party.
Rule number two: It's your bullet until it stops. Make sure that there is no one near or behind your target who can be injured or killed if you miss or if the bullet penetrates the target and continues on it's merry way.
Rule number three: It's a much better idea to stay out of places where you might need a gun than it is to carry one around with ya all the time.
Rule number four: If ya have to use one keep your pie hole shut. Demand a lawyer and talk only to him/her. Cops can and will use deceptive practices to get you to say something in the heat of the moment that they will later on use to hang you.
Rule Number five: More on cops, if they tell you they know everything and that you might as well confess and make it easy on yourself, what they mean is that they don't know shit and you should confess to make it easy on them.
