Then I think you are doing two things in your jar rather than one.
First you have a population that's doubling.
Second you have resources which are reducing.
Okay. I get it. Zero sum game.
I don't assume the sudden end of resources in the way that you do. People are fairly clever about developing new resources. Maybe we'll end up making skyscrapers out of fortified and reconstituted algae or some crazy thing like that. Maybe we'll figure how to use the deserts to plant crops. Maybe we'll genetically modify ourselves to live in the oceans. Maybe we'll convert ourselves to light forms and live in cyberspace.
Like we make plastics out of hydrocarbons or energy out of the sun's rays.
I have human innovation as a key variable which tends to expand the realm of opportunity for expansion. While other forces tend to limit it.
