Exactly right, meme. Several years ago, public approval of Congress hit a near-record low (a mark I'm sure has since been eclipsed). But at the same time, the public's opinion of its OWN Congressmen was extremely high.

The explanation is clear. People hate Congressional actions - and spending in particular. But they love it when the spending is for them. So they hate Congress as a whole while thinking their own Congressmen are doing stand-up jobs.

Americans have either become total idiots or self-centered bastards. Or maybe both.

And real patriotism (supporting what's best for the country) is all but dead.

but they keep getting reelected so they dont care

and if they dont get reelected they get a big payday from their sponsors

i read that most voters think poorly of politicians in general thinks their politician is an exception and that is how this works
