I am in possession of a fairly nice computer from a friend and am a little stumped.

It simply will not turn on.

I have hooked it up, checked ALL the motherboard connections, made sure the power supply cable was inserted well into the power supply and the other end plugged into an outlet.

The reset and power sw wires are connected on their header, and the memory is in its sockets.

When I plug the power cord into the outlet I have a yellow light come on on the mobo.

When I press the START button I get nothing. Nada, zip. The fan won't even spin.

Okay, so I try a different power supply. That wasn't it either.

There is NO BEEPS. Only a board light that lights and nothing else.

It is as if the power is not getting anywhere it needs to go to start.

Bad board???????

It is a really nice power supply. A Corsair 850 watt modular. Top of the line.

I'm thinking along the lines of the motherboard has gone kaput

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA,

micro...
