Ryan is the apotheosis of all the Republican ideals of the last 30 years crystallised into superhuman form.
With him, wealth doesn't just trickle down - it's a torrent; with him, diminutive tax rates yield a bonanza of taxable income; with him, a government on a subsistence budget must go on a diet; with him, government preference should be slanted away from poverty so that the rich can use their welfare cheques to create even more jobs; with him, the US military will not just have a larger budget than every other country combined - he will provide that amount as a gratuity just to make sure; with him, government deficits will not just turn into surpluses, the surpluses will turn into oil and the oil will be exported to Saudi Arabia to put back under their sand; with him, the roads will build themselves and veterans hospitals will operate for free in deference to the power of the market.
That's before you even begin to examine what are called the social issues of the Republican base - although this is clearly another name for issues of religion.
Indeed, like Chuck Norris, when Paul Ryan does push-ups, he doesn't push himself up, he pushes the world down.
