Answer was really weak.

Who was asking about them buying on the basis of insider information? No one. That was a straw man if I've ever seen one.

Who suggested he must use his entire annual salary to purchase shares? That was a figleaf to avoid explaining why he purchases none. Indeed, the questioner was simply using that as an example of commitment.

What many investors want to see is the end of excuses of exactly this type, commitment to the company's long term future and the value of their own decisions, and the alignment of their interests with shareholders both in terms of risks and rewards (options only align on the upside).

I think perhaps he could think about these kinds of questions in a very different and more constructive way.

One thing you don't do. Create a long-winded reason why you will not invest. Why should anyone else invest if they will not?
