I fear you're correct. The scene was never secured & no evidence was taken into custody, just Trayvon's body.
Maybe they can get that law overturned, because it puts the onus on the police. All the shooter has to claim is self defense, then the police have to prove it wasn't or they will be held liable.

Reading more, learned at the time, Trayvon was 6'3" 140 pounds & Zimmerman 5'9" 250 pounds.

Yet Zimmerman claims Trayson attacked him, pushed him to the ground & banged his head repeatly on the ground.
Sooo, how did Zimmerman manage to shoot Trayvon in the chest?
