Folks should be listening to doma on this. But I would add: 1. That looks like public domain footage to me. Public domain stuff is freely available at no cost. For instance, all NASA and government footage is in the public domain. 2. Bluefang's cost per second is way too high. First, he's talking about the cost for broadcast rights and this is internet distribution. Second, this is a corporate use. 3. My estimate: they probably paid nothing for footage and at most $1,000. 4. The music may have been licensed or may not. Again, small budget stuff at worst in this case. That was not Whitney singing "I will always love you" in the background. 5. I don't think this was the work of a professional editor. If it was, I'd ask for my money back. so 6. Someone did a thrifty and slightly amateurish job. But they did okay and Wave has put it on youtube for investors to enjoy. and 7. Perhaps security guys aren't always brilliant in other fields. and 8. They are surely not going to use it with customers or suppliers. and 9. If they want to do a good job, call a professional! The idea isn't so bad and could be fixed with a bit of money. And video can be a powerful tool in the hands of sales people. |
