Right.

In tax terms, in the UK at least, depreciation is not called depreciation when it is calculated for tax purposes. It is (or was once) called a capital allowance.

You deduct the capital allowance from your corporation tax on adjusted net income. The tax folks also add back the depreciation charge.

OK, just reread it, I think I get it, taxes really have nothing to do with an income statement, at least until they come to bear on actual earnings.
