Actually, Micro,
Windmills just might be one of them. Last I checked,
the 'guys' was willing to spend their own money
(plus a tax break) to put windmills up in
Nantucket Bay . . . a project kept from being built
by lying thieving demo-half-wits.

I also suspect that solar panels - if installed with
an eye to providing expensive peak demand watts -
MIGHT just be worth the installing IF they can be
installed on, say, grocery store roof tops.

However, obama's scam to shovel a half Billion bucks
down solyndra's throat is NOT the way to make it
happen.

(Buying the panels from whoever could deliver them -
even if overpriced - would have been far far better.
At least that way we'd have a few solar watts on line.)

KTC,

I would agree that a competitive and inexpensive source of energy is or would be a good thing.

WINDmills ain't one of them

WE have more COAL than we could ever possibly use for a thousand years available to us and I am confident that perhaps science can harness the electron, pron and neutron ions to generate power for turbines that in turn generate electric inexpensively.

RIGHT now there are not any alternative energy sources that can compete with fossil fuels on an economic scale, UNLESS someone drives up the price of gas to record high levels never seen before so they can try to make a case to use these high cost toys that nobody wants except a few.

I am in favor of developing alternatives that can provide low cost energy for every American citizen, aren't you?
