A letter rogatory or letter of request is a formal request from a court to a foreign court for some type of judicial assistance. The most common remedies sought by letters rogatory are service of process and taking of evidence.

dndodd the District Court filing is a part of the ITC case to get information from Ericcson, Nokia and Alcatel in their home countries. See my January 5, 2012 post below.

IDCC gets ITC support for letters pf recommendation from the district court to seek information from Ericcson, Nokia and Alcatel. The current litigation team is effectuating a great strategy (imo).
