micro, unfortunately, the message board, like the country, largely consists of people who are 100% for free markets and capitalism right up to the point where they're not.

Hi Sir Snapits!

Look, I am not in a position to analyze every single CEO in the country.

The BOARD of Directors is supposed to be charged with looking after the CEO and making sure he isn't destroying a company but rather successfully guiding it so that shareholder value increases. The BOD members are not supposed to be their friends but rather guardians of the entity.

There are going to be some unscrupulous ceo's just like there are going to be some bead employees. Can't help it, just the way it is.

But If I want top caliber business management skills with vision for growth and making the company grow, it will cost some money.

Trying to compare a good ceo's income and benefits with that of a middle manager or average employee simply does not work. They are not comparable.

Ever hire a contractor to do some work around the home?

I have.

Ever get a BAD one? YEP!!!!! Threw him and his tools out the front door and onto the lawn.

Are you seriously going to condemn all CEO's because of Mickey?
Come on Snapits, thatis like me comparing YOU to some scumbag in your profession.
You are not the same person and not responsible for what that person did.

WHAT this was is an abject FAILURE of the Board of DIRECTORS to do their jobs. It really is as simple as that.

If you want a GREAT contractor with lots of references he is going to cost a lot more than Joe Shmoe who is less qualified but cheap. The results speak for themselves.

Unfortunately, I disagree with you about the BOD. I met with mine and was queried by them and we held meetings about the business, where it was, where it was headed, reviewed expenses and costs and sales and marketing strategies and talked about expansions for the future and then we talked about my performance.

A sound Board will FIRE a CEO if they have cause and do their job.

This seems to be a case of an indecisive BOD and a bad CEO. It happens.

What about the great ones. Are they bad too? How about Steve Jobs? Michael Dell? Bill Gates? Steve Forbes? Jack Welch when he was ceo of GE?

These are just a few examples. MANY people have made good livings under their direction and employment.

Having been there in a smaller corporation gives me perspective that most do not have. You don;t have to agree with me, but I can tell you if the left wingers had their way, they would pay a ceo a fraction of what they are worth to a corporation and wonder why the place isn't succeeding.

Well, you get what you pay for. Sorry, but that is the way it is.

If you could earn the same thing, you would too. Itis not ANYONE's right to tell or regulate what someone else's compensation is going to be.

That is unconstitutional.

This is America and not Europe. I know Obama would like it that way with him being King, but that isn;t going to happen either.

Sorry for lengthy post. This is just how I see it from experience.

the best,

micro...
