micro, I agree with a lot of what you say. However, there are a group of CEOs who never worked at the lower levels of their company and do not seem to understand how the company works. It seems that many folks think that the CEO of Burger King and the CEO of Haliburton do much the same job and are interchangable. IMHO they are not. Much of the pay of CEOs came from the tax laws. I have no problem with any CEO making a fortune if he has a stake in the company, but I have seen a few like C. Michael Armstrong who used the company funds to buy himself a big future income. He knew nothing about how the company worked and had no idea as to how to grow the company. He was paid hundreds of millions to take a company of half a million employees and turn it into a company of 40,000. BTW, of those 40,000, 36,500 were management and 3,500 were non-management. In a 'normal' company there are at least ten employees per every manager. Otherwise the company becomes so top heavy it cannot survive. But then, a a friend once said, 'friends do not fire friends'.

Just my two cents worth.

Clo,

your jealousy is showing.
When you are the head of the biggest corporations in the world, it is a totally different world than you know and I know, and I was a ceo.

Now I just run my small company and am happy.

The stress and strain is unimaginable and the expression that it's lonely at the top is for real.

What you and every other person who has not a clue about the very top management of fortune 200 corporations is what these people's credentials are and what they do daily to make those corporations profitable. They actually are answerable to a Board of Directors and shareholders. Relentless pressure.

What you think is that it is all glamor and playtime.
Therin lies the fallacy which brings about the envy and resentment of a really powerful Chief Executive Officer.

It isn't for the fain of heart or the non-driven and one must be truly dedicated and driven to succeed. Selfish in a large way because it is either you or the other guy who is going to survive.

SO while you wail the popular LIB line about the very people who provide the jobs, GREAT PAYING JOBS for every level below them, and the benefits as well, you might do well to cease the spouting off and showing your ignorance.
Al you are doing is being a mouthpiece for the party line again.

Where is your outrage when a Hollywood lefty gets 20 or 50 million for one lousy movie? Where??????

Yourail against headss of corporations as if they have somehow contributed to something bad when in fact they are simply doing their jobs.

Golden parachutes have been around for a very long time dearie. Very long. Nothing unusual there.

These folks simply have achieved and made it to the top, which should be the aspiration of anyone who is in business and management.

Just remember that when you finally make it through years and years of hard work and sacrifice, something few no anything about but are readily there to rail against those that have, you will always have have people like CLO mouthing off about your severance agreements when in fact, they are none f your concern nor business.

I do not applaud wrong doing or abuse of power. I do applaud achievement and sacrifice.

You really have no clue what you are saying.
