quite an extraordinary thing to see how much hatred can be switched on and off by means of the airwaves.

people don't demand evidence. they are prepared to be led in its absence, so long as the theory seems to make a little sense.

it doesn't matter that the oil theory has no substance to it. the theory survives the roadkill of its supposed factual foundation.

another great example of my contention that human beings simply cannot be persuaded to part with their hypotheses. certainly, neither facts nor reason can do the job. this seems to be something intrinsic to us. and certain political parties know this and abuse it.

and there i was thinking it couldn't get even better.

moslem-seeing, lake-of-fire wielding, commie-under-the-mattress-thinking, imaginary-history-constructing, stone-tablet-constitution-desiring, foreigner-hating, paranoid birther. who knew there was someone so entertainingly ignorant and also so wonderfully full of himself. when the oil disappeared, all that was left was the hatred.

but wait. next up, the contrition cycle.
