Thanks Zim! Ten stocks would be too many since she doesn't intend to actively trade or manage her 401k. T

I thought it might be interesting for us to layout and then follow a simple portfolio online that may provide income, growth, safety or adventure. She really doesn't need the money. It is a retirement vehicle with many years to run.

Is she looking for growth?
Or long term income?

For growth I'd be looking for dividend paying
companies with regular dividend increases -
And, I think KMB, PG, and HNZ might fit.

For income with much more modest growth, I'd look
for power companies (utilities) in the more
conservative states - like Dominion Resources (D)
here in the Great State of Virginia.

But she should definitely diversify - at least
ten different companies in several different sectors.
