I cannot find the news story but recently a driver of a small car rearended a semi. The wreak caused the car to catch on fire. Them little cars get great gas milage while they last. I suspect most are not that safe. I did find this:

Every rechargable battery used for power that I have ever owned has had a short lifespan. I heard that the batteries for electric cars are very expensive to replace.
