Last week, my son received an English assignment to write a 'Thank you' letter to the person of his choice from a list of historically prominent blacks.
So, he went to the teacher after class and told her he thought the assignment was racist. He told her he would rather have his grade fall than have to do an assignment that has nothing to do with English and demeans an entire race.
The teacher left the room, talked to some other teachers, came back and told him that she agreed with him. The list was changed to include 'any famous American who has made a difference.'
The next day, she told the class that the assignment had been changed.
If they're going to peddle this kind of crap in our public schools, they'd better start even earlier. By 7th grade, some of the kids can think for themselves.
