Sara Lee paying $3 dividend in coffee spinoff

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Sara Lee Corp. said it will pay a special dividend of $3 a share as part of a plan to spin off its Coffee & Tea unit through a stock listing in Amsterdam late this year. Sara Lee will spin off shares of the U.S. subsidiary that holds its Coffee & Tea business. The unit will pay the special dividend to Sara Lee shareholders. A new Dutch company will also be set up, with shares distributed to Sara Lee shareholders. "Amsterdam was chosen as the location for the new headquarters in the Netherlands due to its central location and accessibility to an international labor market," Sara Lee said. The new company, DE International, plans to list its shares on the NYSE Euronext in Amsterdam. DE International plans to change its name before completion of the spinoff.
