No, clo, you're an insufferable, Socialist busybody who wants to dictate to everyone else what they can and cannot do. It is definitely not idiotic to fight the soft-today, hard-tomorrow tyranny that you represent.
Unfortunately, the Brits have surrendered their ability to personally defend themselves against criminals in the streets and criminals in their government who wish to deny them their inalienable rights and separate them from their own property. And, for what? They end up with an inept nanny-state run by clueless, meddling Socialists like you who do not know what is best for themselves, let alone what is best for everyone else. They have a national, government-run health care system that is killing people right and left via abject neglect and is so broken that even the Socialist British government is seriously trying to find a way to scrap it! Their government is financially bankrupt, just like ours, and they have riots in the streets because their ne'er-do-wells who are already sucking unmercilessly on the taxpayer tit do not want to see their free supply of money reduced. The once-vaunted British navy is so anemic, now, that the Brits are not even sure they can successfully hold off pansy ass Argentina from invading the Falkland Islands, again. The Brits have even subverted their own longstanding, democratic laws by heeding the heinous sharia law in their courts because cowardly Socialists like you told them it was the politically correct thing to do. 
The crumbling British empire is what you leftists want to bring the United States down to ... if you are successful, the United States will be a mere shadow of its former self, but you busybody Socialists will be happy because you will be in charge and be able to tell everyone how to lead their lives. But, you leftists do have a problem with your scheme to replace the United States Constitution with a "living, breathing constitution" that derives its "life" from whatever your arbitrary will is, today or tomorrow ... millions and millions of Americans are well-armed, and when push comes to shove and you leftists push too hard ... as you always end up doing ... those well-armed American citizens might just conclude that your unconstitutional government has gone too far and tell you Socialist busybodies to take a hike at gunpoint. This is exactly why you leftists are so anti-gun - you fear well-armed citizens who think for themselves and are willing to fight for the freedoms that you would take away from them, supposedly "for their own good."
Firearms are not just for hunting, clo ... they are also for defense against criminals and would-be tyrants like you and your leftist masters.
