Hah! Booze? I've got that!
It's funny that this subject should pop up today. I just finished watching two episodes of the National Geographic Channel program "Doomsday Preppers." I'd never heard of it, but *two* of my buddies at work recommended it today. How weird! Why would they think to recommend it to ME of all people??????
So, in the second episode (the 2/21/2012 episode), the guy they're covering was showing off his liquor stockpile. It probably exceeds mine! And the narrator says, "Liquor is a popular item for Doomsday Preppers."
My jaw dropped. I haven't seen anyone else talking about liquor - not even on the doom-and-gloom sites I've infrequently visited. I'd sort of started thinking that it was entirely MY idea! (Of course, I'd stolen the idea from Pat Frank's book, 'Alas, Babulon!' which I'd read as a kid, but no one else has to know that.)
So it's stranger still to come here and find someone ELSE talking about liquor. As the guy on the show said, "We don't drink, but liquor has no shelf life, could be used as an antiseptic, and ought to be very tradeable in an Armageddon scenario."
Then they cut to a few scenes of the guy using bottles of vodka as Molotov cocktails. What a waste!
