Weco,

As long as you're working and have full coverage health insurance, you can forgo Medicare for now. However, if you no longer have insurance and you're over 65, you have to sign-up for Medicare within 12 months of losing that coverage or else you can be charged a penalty (I think it's a 15% surcharge) when you do finally join.

Young pup! I rolled over into 70 last year... party started in July with a HS group party, then it seemed on or another kid or other family member kicked in for another...

Anyway, Medicare also kicks in, working or not I think...

As I've been able to find 'em, I've helped some of my work buddies that were laid off, gather their pensions from the current vendor.. I bet there is still a lot of folks out there that don't know they are entitled to a retirement, however small from prior employers systems... Tough to track unless they've stayed in touch over the years...
