S.&P. 500 Index Closes at Highest Level Since June 2008
The Standard & Poor’s 500-share index on Friday finished at its highest point
since 2008, extending a climb that began in November.
But in a generally lackluster trading day, the Dow Jones industrial average
ended the day flat, failing again to close above 13,000 points. The Nasdaq ended
0.2 percent higher.
The S.&.P. closed at about 1,365 points. The last time it was higher was in June
2008, before the worst of the financial crisis.
