Seems like every one of these reports is lacking in one aspect or another. Marshall Phelps, who gets top billing in this report, happens to be former head of IP and licensing at IBM & Microsoft.

From the A1 website:

"From 2002-2010 Mr. Phelps was Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property and Licensing, Microsoft Corporation. At Microsoft, his duties entailed worldwide management of the company's intellectual property portfolio, patent prosecution, licensing, standards and business development. He facilitated Microsoft's emergence as one of the world's largest IP companies with over 60,000 patents and applications, extensive copyright holdings and numerous trademarks."

I suppose it is not too surprising to see Nokia with the high ranking.

i smell a little bit of a rat here...we know from another study we have seen... that idcc has declared 441 patents as essential to the 4g standard through its parent and various subsidiaries....i think the study might have CONVENIENTLY left out idc's subsidiaries patents by reporting only 302 patents....just like somehow the study CONVENIENTLY placed nokia near the top....whereas in most studies we have seen they are nowhere near the top Naughty Naughty Naughty Naughty
