Zim, in the late 90's I saw a statement that the AT&T employee pension fund was showing a profit and had not received company since the 1960's. Then the company wanted to put it together with the management pension fund because the management pension fund did not have enough funds to cover obligations.

More likely . . .
In the case of FAR toooo many American companies . .
They saw the pension funds as a place to plunder
'excess' cash. Making the bottom line look better
by 'stealing' the employees future security.
