... she's just scared to death that the Republicans will nominate someone more Conservative than Romney ... 'cuz she knows a more Conservative GOP candidate will kick the crap out of her messiah in November. That's why she feels the constant need to tout bogus polls that purport to show Obama is going to win re-election, even though the election is still 9 months away. 
On October 26, 1980, the Gallup poll had Carter up over Reagan by 47% to 39%. On election day, 9 days later, Reagan carried 44 states and received 489 electoral votes and Carter carried 6 states plus D.C. and received 49 electoral votes. clo/Maxine can woulda/shoulda/coulda all she wants ... whatever it takes for her to sleep at night, don'tcha know. But, we know ... and she knows ... that the vast majority of the American people know that B. Hussein is a much bigger turkey than Jimmuh Carter ever thought about bein' ... and Jimmuh was an abject failure ... the worst president the United States has ever experienced ... until now, that is.
