I retired at 57 because after I paid my taxes and the expenses associated with going to work, I had less left over than folks who didn't work at all. Atlas Shrugging doesn't just apply to the super wealthy and having regular folks just lay down their tools and go home is a more realistic threat than the rich folks quitting.
