The war on religion talk going on now, is really no different than the alleged war on Christmas - there is none. This is what kills me, that the country gets into a tizzy about an issue, which is not the real issue, but has been framed in such a way, you would think the world was coming to an end.
Here is what the war on religion looks like:
House of worship are closed.
Religious writings are banned.
The ability to pray even in your home is outlawed.
People are arrested for preaching.
Qu'rans, Bibles, and any other sacred texts are burned.
The state establishes it's own kind of religion, but it is based solely on the state.
Those are instances of a war on religion.
The following are not part of a war on religion:
Providing access to free birth control or other reproductive services.
Allowing same sex marriage at the civil level.
Removal of religious objects from public spaces.
Questioning if the term "In God We Trust" should be removed from our money.
Telling churches that if they are going to be politically active, and involve their money in political campaigns, they lose their tax free status -if other non-profits lose their tax free status, why are churches not being asked to follow the law in the same manner?
The problem is very religious people want a war mentality. It keeps them in power. It props them up. Without a constant war, we see them for who they are pathetic cowards who have nothing else.
