Mr. Ron is doing the Curly shuffle. He has not done any favors to his company or his clients via his to date coverage of IDCC.

Regardless of his comment, a CAFC win is extremely valuable. The patent claims at issue at the CAFC are present and better laid out in the continuation patent claims comprising the new 337 investigation at the ITC. The amount of money it costs to defend will naturally incent the four companies to explore an early settlement/license. Why allow Apple to state to potential customers that they can supply products without the threat of interruption via an ITC ban to gain an advantage over your products?

The only problem I see in the report is young William must be two-stepping about LG. Ron is reading William as agreeing to a 48% haircut from its previous license and this renewal is presumed to include 4g. Something smells on the LG matter. Is 4g a negative? I hope someone pins William on this at the upcoming CC. I had hoped he understood FRAND by now. Making an agreement with LG post Nortel as perceived by Mr. Ron will make it damned difficult to reach that 800 million annual goal.

As a caveat, I have voiced my objection to William since the first day he became CEO and I have probably allowed my bias to grow since that time. I have been waiting for him to change my mind via actions, but he just has not been able to reach my expectations as yet. On the bright side, I have stuck with this investment with an open mind. I am not sleeping as well as when IDCC announced the end of the SA and the insider buys, but I still have my snickers, Tug and the USA hockey team.

wow, this surprises me?

"We believe that the outcome of the CAFC ruling will have minimal impact on future
licensing. If successful, the appeal may speed up Nokia licensing. However, it is
unlikely to impact LG or Samsung renewals"
