The Axis Powers had no idea what they were taking on when the US entered WW II... and to think that the US population at that time was about 110 million rather than the 315 million it is today. In terms of the European Crusade, the US was lucky that the British held-on so that there would be a massive "aircraft carrier" from which to launch air, ground and naval forces against the thuggie Nazis. (Remember that the US was also supplying the Soviet Union)

He built the Willow Run assembly plant and proved it. It was the world's largest building under one roof, even then FORD HAD A BETTER IDEA!
