My boss, when I was working in R&D back in Michigan, was also a ball-turret gunner in the Pacific. His most important job was to watch and take notes on how much damage did their bombs do since he was the only guy on the plane who could actually see where the bombs landed.

to build a B24 per hour... My BIl was a ball turret belly gunner on these out of Naples, in the day..

Outstanding 70 year old video... The Axis Powers had no idea what they were taking on when the US entered WW II... and to think that the US population at that time was about 110 million rather than the 315 million it is today. In terms of the European Crusade, the US was lucky that the British held-on so that there would be a massive "aircraft carrier" from which to launch air, ground and naval forces against the thuggie Nazis. (Remember that the US was also supplying the Soviet Union)

Henry Ford was determined that he could mass produce bombers just as he had done with cars.

He built the Willow Run assembly plant and proved it. It was the world's largest building under one roof, even then FORD HAD A BETTER IDEA!

This film will absolutely blow you away - one B-24 every 55 minutes.
OVER 1 Million Parts! ADOLF HITLER HAD NO IDEA THE U.S. WAS CAPABLE OF THIS KIND OF THING.

There is no way he could have even guessed.

For those who live outside of Michigan , Willow Run is near Bellville, Canton and Ypsilanti , MI
It's amazing that one B-24 came off the assembly line every 55 minutes
Take a few minutes to watch this snapshot of history.
