Weco,

At Siemens all air travel is booked by our travel department and charged on your corporate AMEX card, with the bill coming directly to you (paperless) but which is automatically reimbursed into a bank account of your choice (I think they do this to leverage such things as travel insurance and other traveler benefits included when you use your AMEX card). Now they ask that you also use your corporate card for hotels, car rentals and other business travel related expenses but if you use your own card no one every says anything, which is what I do as this allows me to collect the extra cash back bonus (COSTCO AMEX pays 2% on all travel related expenses including restaurant charges).

OCU - Yes, Costco's Exec Membership has more than covered their fee, plus a handy bit on top of it.. We just converted to AMEX with them, simplifies a lot of things.. But we still use our Credit Union debit card as well as their credit and another couple, depends on the category... We just had AMEX jack up our ceiling, we'd left it low, thinking more of local purchasing, but then this trip popped up, very easy, a phone call, name your number, done.. Nice..

I had a couple Corporate cards until I retired, added to my paperwork time, but AMEX for food and travel, MC for materials, tools... Very big time saver, but a lot of guys wouldn't take on the paperwork... Prior to them we'd have to pay out of pocket, voucher, or rely on a remote boss to find the time to handle things.. Way, way back, we'd make all our own flight plans, so if we knew we were heading to Chicago for classes, buy the ticket way ahead, save the difference from what the Co travel Dept allowed... Then they decided they would handle all of it, eventually when the AMEX cards came along it was a lot better, but the AMEX reconciliation process within was tedious, an online thing, messy until they sorted some of it out.. VPNs let us access the internals nicely... Even form Macs!

Great to be gone!
