What drives me nuts is when food prices stay the same, but the size of the packages shrink!!

That's the first thing I noticed in this safeway store. Those square tubs of ice cream are almost single serving now. But same price or a little more.......

Tuna fish, real small cans. Takes 2 cans now to do what one used to. same price.

Ah, but food doesn't count in the inflation numbers. It's because of the way food prices fluctuate. Potatos were expensive when I arrived here in late 2005. 60 cents per pound. I was horrified.

Three years later, 99 cents. Now? $1.19.

See? Lots of fluctuation.

But at least they're still the same product! What drives me nuts is when food prices stay the same, but the size of the packages shrink!!! The manufacturers who pull that stunt ought to be hung out to dry by consumer advocates - except, of course, that it would involve practically all of them.
