Ah, of course. I jumped ahead on assumption without asking the appropriate troubleshooting question. My bad. I know that the headphone jack on the front of my kids' computer doesn't work, and they have to plug headphones into the back. I haven't taken the time to try to find out why, but assumed yours was a similar situation.

Is the new drive USB 3 by any chance?

Yes sir, the problem and message I was getting that the USB port is not recognizing the device plugged into it.

Now, I also have a USB video cam plugged into the other USB front port and it works just fine. However, it is a different story with that crummy reader I tried last evening. A windows message comes up telling me it isn;t recognizing the device....

It knows its there, it just doesn't know what it is.

I hope this new one is better.
