I am still thinking that the SA could have quelled the momentum to buy IDCC. If Intel, Apple, Goog, and Sams were truly looking at the IDCC portfolio, I am thinking that they did not want to be collared into the terms set forth by Evercore and Barclays. In other words they probably thought (because they are the biggies) we are not going to be dictated the preliminary terms in order to move forward. Also I am sure they did not want to have the potential of spending their time potentially getting into a bidding war.
The benefit is that IDCC has had a chance to show their IP wares, and perhaps due diligence will be shorter when an acquirer comes forward. If the biggies, did indeed take a peek at IDCC, then they will be prepared to move forward in a definitive manner, with their terms rather than IDCCs.
