ABC News Interview: Marianne Gingrich Reveals That Ex-Husband Newt Asked Her for an Open Marriage

And the attacks just keep on comin’. At least, that’s likely what Newt Gingrich and camp are thinking today as an ABC News interview with his second ex-wife, Marianne Gingrich, was released, immediately becoming the topic of political conversation.
According to ABC’s Brian Ross in speaking with the co-hosts of The View on Thursday, Marianne told him in the interview that her ex lacks the ‘moral character’ to serve as president of the United States, siting (citing) Gingrich’s proposal that they have an open marriage and include Callista — his current wife — in their relationship.
“I said to him, ‘Newt, we’ve been married a long time,’ and he said, ‘Yes, but you want me all to yourself. Calista doesn’t care what I do,’” she said. Ross then asked Marianne what she thought her husband was saying with the nebulous statement. “Oh, he was asking to have an open marriage and I refused,” she said, going on to say that Gingrich wanted her to “accept the fact that he had somebody else in his life.” This was a proposition she refused, telling Gingrich that such an arrangement was “not a marriage.”
Marianne also revealed her “shock” at discovering Gingrich’s promiscuous behavior, saying at one point she learned that he conducted his affair with Callista “in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington.”
“He always called me at night,” she told Ross, “and always ended with ‘I love you.’ Well, she was listening.”
