Basically, Obamaphone is an attempt to keep poor people in touch. They our outcast and segregated enough already. Without a computer, a landline or a cellphone, and with the absence of pay phones on the street, they are becoming invisible or non-people in today's electronic world. They just become less and less able to participate or contribute - a sorry state of affairs. Subsidizing phone service seemed like a worthwhile idea to some people under the USF program.
