Snapits> What is YOUR opinion of Venture Capitalists?

Mein Pope,
I think we need to properly label and identify
the difference between 'venture capitalists'
and 'corporate raiders'.

While icahn might have called himself a 'Venture
Capitalist' he was, in fact, a thief. (Corporate
raider.)

As I see it, 'true' venture capitalists put their
money at risk trying to help entrepreneurs get their
business model up and running - turning a profit
from which the venture capitalists can siphon off a
share of the profits enabling them to fund more
ventures. This definition suggests they play a
good part in the economy.

Note that in this definition of a venture capitalist
the capitalist is risking THEIR own money - not the
taxpayers. These types have become educated in measuring
the probability that a new business will become
successful and do NOT risk money on stupidity.

In contrast to obama and solyndra. obama did not
risk obama's money and solyndra proved out to be a
shining example of where and how NOT to invest.

Zim.
