A curious fact about this Republican Party. They are incapable of taking positions which are not either at one extreme or the other:

They are either isolationist (libertarians) or they are aggressive imperialists (neoconservatives).

They either want no government (libertarians) or they want a vast military and little else (the conservatives).

They don't want some kind of compromise on life. When it's a fertilised egg, it's murder to abort it (all factions). When it's a murderer, they want him executed (all factions). Life is sacred. Sorta.

The unemployed are so because they are lazy and not because they are unlucky; and great wealth can only be the result of skill and hard work.

When they see Obama, since his behaviour doesn't adhere to this polar theme, they see him as socialist (because he isn't a simplistic capitalist), atheist or muslim (because he doesn't wear his christianity on his sleeve), weak (because he avoids war if possible) ....

I guess human beings don't do nuance very well. They like to see opposites. Maybe it's just a brain thing. Between the two poles, there is no temperate zone. Apparently.

Which makes earth uninhabitable.
