Go to Amazon and you can download a free Kindle reader (program for your PC, not to be confused with the physical gadget) that gives access to a lot of public domain books. This WILL bookmark your place. In my case it'll sync my place so I can read on my PC or on my iPhone without hunting around (I recently reread The Communist Manifesto, even though it's just a collection of old PFFFT posts). There are other free readers if you look around some. You probably already found Gutenberg.org.
