I agree - attacking people with drain cleaner (or anything else) is bad.

My problem is that now, if someone claims "Some woman threw drain cleaner on me," the police now have the ability to go to every house where a woman bought drain cleaner and interview her, since they know she bought drain cleaner. That could be a hell of a lot of houses.

After the 1996 bombing at the Olympics, they searched Richard Jewel's house. CNN reported that they had found nails, duct tape, and steel pipe in his garage - things that probably sit on a shelf in 90% of the garages in the country. Luckily, they didn't keep records of people who bought these items recently, because if they had, they probably would have ended up searching a LOT more houses. And every one of those households would have been suspects.

Or we'll start hearing about "illegal drain cleaner trafficking." *facepalm*

What is the point of rules that are not enforced?

...the only thing dumber than having to provide id to buy drain cleaner is living in an area where people think it's ok to throw drain cleaner on other folks. One of these days Im gonna build a house on top of a mountain and roll rocks at the human race when it comes by.
