I figure that Liberal Opposition to the Patriot Act is akin to Republican Opposition to Abortion... a dirty little secret that the politicians prefer not to do more than pay lip service to.

Except that these days, Liberals don't even do that.

You're clearly wrong. You'll note that with two years of a Leftist President, Leftist Senate and Leftist House, the Patriot Act is still here.

I think the truth is that the left PRETENDED to oppose the Patriot Act. To me, a conservative, its continuance is a tremendous letdown.

I can't remember the last time anyone on this forum railed against it.
