Just for fun I oiled the fan to the 9600 GSO card and played with it awhile.
I then put the fan back onto the card backwards from how it was on there. The fan seemed to move freely so I thought why not see what it does under power?
The only problem I have is that EVGA tools will not control the fan speed on this ASUS 9600 GSO card.
I wish I could speed it up on its own but cannot.
The fan is turning nicely though and I am running a GPU work unit right now. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it gets through without EUE from overheating.
I will still get an upgrade card for that computer but until I do, I thought I might as well see if we can get some more points out of this one.
I was also successful in relocating the Network adapter to the lowest PCI slot so we had a good connection for the internet.
Maybe this set up will work for awhile????
I am frantically trying to get done with all the work here at the plant.
Monday and Tuesday morning are all we have left.
I take all my employees to a restaurant on Tuesday and hand out Christmas bonuses as well as payroll.
We go on break and vacation from there.
On Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. mrs. micro and I head to the airport to fly to Richmond to see our little baby grandson. We will be back on Saturday afternoon so we canhave Christmas with our other daughter and our two oldest grandchildren and my wife's single sister. She has been so good to our daughters and grandkids over the years I am delighted she can be a part of my family.
ANyway, hopefully we will see some points from that little GPU until I can get the 550 Ti ordered.
Take care,
micro...
