created whole new industries.
Solar cells. Used to be they were god-awful
expensive. NASA pumped R&D money into them
because they were the best bet for generating
power in orbit. Today? Duke Energy is working
on installing them to help make grid power. There
are several buildings with them helping to reduce
the owners electric bills.
LED light bulbs . . . I been looking, and they been
way too expensive. However, prices have been coming
down and I bought another one today - at Lowes.
'Somebody' . . 'paid' too much for the first ones
built . . . but, hopefully, in the near future the
technology and prices will improve to the point that
I can buy 10 watt LED lights to replace the 27 watt
compact fluorescents that I bought to replace 100 watt
incandescents.
