DGP,
IF you have cell reception where you live you should get one for emergencies only.
Mine costs us a whopping $20.00/month and we get like 240 minutes.
The phone was free. We have a Nokia flip phone. It takes pictures if we want to and we had our carrier, Consumer Cellular to turn off the Texting and email functions so we did not have ou minutes eaten by spammers and such.
They use the ATT network and works quite nicely.
For Twenty a month it is a good deal for its intended purpose.
This way, when we travel, if we have breakdown on the road we can call for help immediately and let anyone we are going to see we will be delayed or whatever.
And yes sir, I can understand after lugging around a pager and a phone all the time why you are turned off by them.
My wife and I just came home from the store. I couldn't help but notice how many people have phone stuck to their ear as if they cannot even go shopping without a cell phone.
Pathetic actually.
But give it some thought. I can attest for that company. Never had one bit of trouble at all.
Very helpful and great customer service.
