Hi CF. We obviously look at this through different lenses. 1st, I insinuate nothing against the girl, never did. Yes I used conditional clauses, and did so purposely. I imply nothing unkind to the young person, you infer it. I agree that she is a "pawn", obviously a human being, unfairly placed in what could be potentially harmful do to careless handling.

She should be able to work two jobs. SKS should be able to employ a part time person at his horse farm and at Wave. The implication of potential impropriety lies in that she may be a "ghost" (or partially so) on Wave's payroll. It happens almost normally in family business, I've done it myself in my own business (not a public co.). All SKS and she had to do was update websites to indicate that her work at the horse farm (or vice versa Wave) did not conflict w/ the other. That in and of itself would have squashed it. But they didn't. So, as a result, skeptics wonder if there were possibly devious reasons (even worse than a ghost) for her hire at Wave. She should never have been put in that position, it's wrong. She's the kid, presumably still somewhat naive, while SKS is a CEO, presumably moneied, powerful and persuaive. Blaming me for what I haven't done, "using a young kid as my ammunition" is unfair. Again, there is likely no wrong doing here. My point is, has been, that SKS caused speculation because this was poorly handled.

Please understand, I am without animus; accusatory only of SKS for lack of forethought. I remain somewhat distraught over his lack of foresight, albeit not surprised. Wave is a very small company, family controlled. If it grows substantially,as we all hope it will, this kind of silly oversight must be eliminated. Some folks take advantage of this type of thing.

Additionally, I commend you for such a vigorous defense-although I think she did nothing improper.
If this response doesn't provide clarity to my thoughts and you continue to hold an opposing view, then we'll just have to differ. I'm fine w/ that, and will continue to have high regard for your intellect and opinions which I value. And thx CF.

Hi tkc,

Could you explain to me what exactly you think has occurred which has an appearance of impropriety?

I see nothing except insinuations against a girl who has two jobs and the person who employs her.

All you are doing is providing conditional clauses here: "if there was in fact improbity ..." - if you don't know, you should not infer it; "I hope it is above board, but if it isn't ..." - so it may be that it is above board and yet you prosecute the Spragues using a vulnerable human being as your vehicle. The whole thing is set up as if there was substance to your argument, but there isn't. There are only ifs. Absent substance, there is shame in your insinuations.

You are inferring something which isn't there and which is unkind to the young person whom you use as the vehicle of your inferences. You write: "they simply never seem to give much, if any, consideration to how their decisions may impact others". This applies to you too. You use her as if she is simply a pawn on your chessboard, rather than a human being; one whose life is treated like a piece of junk to be kicked around by anonymous message board posters.

What matters is the money in your pocket. What matters to me is that someone young and vulnerable is not treated in this way.

Why should she not work two jobs? Why should Steven not employ part-time a girl whom he has met at the horse farm and discovered is capable of doing another job with Wave? Where is there any implication she has got anything other than an appropriate paycheck for her work?

Listen tkc, you are a nice guy. But you are not thinking about this like a human being. Please imagine if this is your daughter who has been treated this way. The Spragues are fair game. But you don't get to use a young kid as your ammunition.
