http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/police-officer-reportedly-shot-virginia-tech-campus-lockdown-183115715.html

"Nathan Latka, a former Tech student who works in an office near Squires Student Center, says he first heard the campus sirens go off and then received a text message from the university warning him about the shooting."That's when I realized something was wrong," he says. Latka watched a student emerge from Squires as five police officers pointed assault rifles at him. The student was not arrested." (emphasis mine)

Everyone is on high-alert. Five police officers pointing guns at a student who made the mistake of leaving a building. That is what I call a recipe for disaster. The odds of that student getting shot by one of those officers were incredibly high. Frightening indeed.

What is the point of rules that are not enforced?

As I understand it, it was nearly 45 minutes between when it happened and when the VT alert was received.

Now there's reports of two killed (one a police officer). Campus is on lockdown, local schools are on lockdown.

And within just a few hours, the anti-gun lobby has already jumped onto the "gun show loophole" as the reason for everything.
