You may recall when the West Virginia miners were killed I was furious about the commentary. Scab labor shunned union protection and paid for it with their lives.
There is more, of course. The Federal agency responsible for the inspections is afraid to actually close a mine because of political ramifications. they'd be pilloried for taking away every Americans right to earn a living. That's how it would have been portrayed had they closed that mine, and Obama would have been labeled a socialist hater of free enterprise.
Heard the twin brother of one of the dead miners calling for criminal action over and above the 200 million dollar settlement the mine owner is paying. The twin's brother knew the risks when he went down that hole. He scoffed at union regulations and government inspections by his own actions. There is a reason for both. I guess live free or die didn't matter in the end.
