I was reading on another Bible board on another site and one of the moderators stated in a lengthy post that when a person comes to Christ for Salvation, that he no longer should refer to himself as a sinner because the Bible calls him a saint, referring to Paul's letter to the church at Rome.

This is fallacy because it portends that believers never sin after they are saved.
This simply is not true. As long as we are trapped inside this fleshly body we will commit sin.

Why else would the Holy Spirit cause the Apostle John to write in I John 1: 9 that "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness".

That was written to saved, born again Christians who also are called saints in the scriptures.

Now, does this mean that if a believer sins against God that they will not gain entrance into heaven?
Of course not.

Hebrews chapters 9 and 10 make it very clear that Christ's sacrifice was sufficient for our sins once for all! He placed upon all who believe HIS own righteousness and paid our sin debt to God the Father by HIS own blood!

What sin in a believer's life that is unconfessed and not repented of does is it separates us from FELLOWSHIP with God but does not change the SONSHIP that we have through Christ Jesus.

Our position has not changed, just our ability to fellowship with God because GOD who is holy cannot fellowship with anything that is unclean.

So then , what is the difference between a sinner and a saint?

The child of God is simply a sinner who has had the blood of Christ applied to his/her life and is forgiven.

They BOTH sin.

Christians are referred to in scripture in some places as SAINTS because we make up the body of CHRIST and the CHURCH is in fact the BRIDE of CHRIST, and the Church is made up of believers (saints)

Christmas time is the season that brings to mind most the thoughts of the BABY born in a manger those many years ago.

He was no ordinary baby.
He was prophesied about and foretold of centuries beforehand. IN the little book of Micah in chapter 5 and verse 2 we can see this, for example.

THIS baby was the JESUS CHRIST, the SON of GOD and GOD the SON.

He was and is 100 percent GOD and 100 percent MAN and HE LEFT HEAVEN'S glory and throne to become a man for only one singular purpose, to provide a way of salvation for his creation, mankind, that was acceptable to a HOLY, RIGHTEOUS, and JUST GOD.

THIS was HIS reason for coming and giving up his GLORIOUS and EXALTED position of being GOD upon a throne in the glory of Heaven.

He said in the volume of the book it is written I have come to do thy will O God!

What was GOD's will?

2 Peter 3: 9 says "GOD is not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance".

God wants ALL men and women everywhere to come to HIM to be saved and accept HIS GIFT of eternal life through the BABY IN THE MANGER, now seated on the throne in GLORY, awaiting YOU to come to HIM with a repentent heart and asking for forgiveness and salvation and trusting HIM alone to save you.

THAT is what the BABY in the MANGER is all about.

HE WAS WORSHIPED by the KINGS of the EAST. HE was guarded by the angels. HE IS the KING OF KINGS and LORD of LORDS.

HE IS Jesus CHRIST our Lord and God and the HOPE of all people everywhere.

My prayer this Christmas is that you would come to a saving knowledge of Christ and have the most blessed time Christmas ever in your life and for the years to come until you see HIM face to face.

Don't put it off another day. You can be sure you have a home in heaven by trusting the ONE who came from Heaven in order to provide you a way to go there.

This is my desire for you and all that are unsaved.

Blessings to you from the God of Heaven and HIS beloved SON, The Lord Jesus Christ,

micro..
