Of course they could order a few dozen less F-35 fighters (at $156 million a copy) or perhaps scratch the next two aircraft carriers being planned (at about $10 billion each) not to mention the subsidies which we're paying oil companies (which, depending on how you figure it, can run in the $10's of billion EACH YEAR).

GOP: Offsetting cuts must cover payroll tax relief

The Senate Republican alternative, unveiled in late afternoon, envisions extending an existing pay freeze for government workers through 2015 — a provision that would apply to lawmakers. It also proposed gradually cutting the government workforce by 10 percent, or 200,000 positions.
