Here in Ohio, the governor tried his best to restore the State to financial normalcy by requiring that public sector unions pay for a portion of their benefits like every other non-union person does.
The difference is that the public union folks get their money directly from the OHIO TAXPAYERS, those of us who make up the private sector and already pay a portion of all our benefits like pensions and health care.
Not only that, but they are not GOLD STANDARD plans either.
What is so hilarious to me is that Governor Kasich warned all these teachers unions and firemen and cops that there is NO MONEY in the treasury so do not come looking for what does not exist.
YOU all have spent it into oblivion already and it is time to restore some sanity back into the spending habits so we can balance a budget here in this state.
Well, the unions went on a rampage and I cannot remember how many hours of union television commercials I had to see that were scaring OLD PEOPLE into believing they would not have adequate fire protection or police protection because they would not have a say so in how many police or firemen are needed on the job in every village or town or city.
WHAT A LIE. Since when do the employees dictate to the administrators how many personnel are going to be on the payroll?
That has never happened. Police and Fire do not have squat to say when it comes to layoffs due to budgetary constraints.
Never have.
But they blatantly lied to the populace here and scared enough of the ignorant into believing this line of crap.
The results are that they got their way and the SB 5 got repealed.
Had it passed, the school system where my daughter teaches and went to High School would have received an additional 3.5 million dollars and since it is crying for more money already this would have helped them out greatly.
As it is, their school levy of 8 mils down in flames, so now they are looking to cut another 5 million from their budget. Woe is me!!!!!
They cut their noses off to spite their face.
What geniuses they are. And this is what is supposed to be teaching our kids? That is scary.
In Middletown, Ohioon the news this morning the city council informed the firefighters there that 8 firemen were going to be laid off due to budgetary constraints.
OH!
The firefighters swore in their commercials that THEY were the ones who decided how many firefighters were to be kept on the payrolls!
LIARS!!!!!!!
Now they are begging the council to re-consider. Maybe they can do some things to save those jobs.
OH< now that the axe is weilded and your sorry butts are going to let go, now you want to discuss cuts and benefits that you spent hundreds of millions of dollars of union dues on to not do that.
HYPOCRITES. EVERY one of them.
I am sitting in my living room laughing myself silly watching this unfold.
Governor Kasich tried his best diplomatically to warn them that they would be FAR BETTER OFF going with his fiscal responsibility plan which meant more would keep their jobs, but no, the union thugs always think they know better.
Well if they did, why is it that UNION pensions are the ones that are so financially messed up? They sure did a great job with that money and now they want every one else's.
I hope those 8 firefighters lose their jobs today.
I hope it happens all across OHIO, teachers, cops, and firefighters. The biggest liars on the planet.
Maybe they thought they would strike GOLD somewhere or have a new oil discovery here to subsidize their extravagant benefits they want everyone else to pay for.
Well, reality is that there will be far fewer of them all to subsidize and in the end, they would have been a lot better off to simply pay a small percentage of their extravagant plans like every other working OHIO worker does.
PAYBACKS are just HE** aren't they?
They lied to get their own way and in the end, they have just shown the populace that they are not in charge of hiring and firing or lay offs, like they said they were. So now, they lose their jobs, which did not have to happen.
What a bunch of morons. They simply cannot add two plus two and get four.
